Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. -Pablo Picasso

Folded Paper Trees
I received a donation of scrapbook paper from Mrs. Cooper at Webster school. I've been waiting to be inspired to use it on just the right project - and this is it! Scrapbook paper Christmas trees! To begin, I cut strips of the scrapbook paper into 1/2 inch by 5 inch strips and then taught third graders how to fold the strips into "links." Then I showed them how to make "chains" out of the links. Each tree required 13 strips. We arranged and glued the chains on a 5X7 piece of white paper, and then onto colored construction paper. This took one art class to complete.
