This 1st grade project is so cute! Students followed along step-by-step, drawing with a pencil, as I drew a turtle on the document camera. Then students used a Sharpie to trace the pencil. The most important parts of the project are the patterns in the turtle's back. Students could be as creative as they wanted with their lines and I encouraged them to not just copy my turtle. Then they put their cutting skills to the test by cutting out the turtle. The final step was to select a piece of construction paper to glue the turtle on to.
