The second day in class, we used our paper to make silly pumpkins. We discussed the proper way to draw shapes for a collage (on the back of the painted paper) and the proper amount of glue to use so we don't make a mess. I just love the personalities in each and every one of these pumpkins!
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. -Pablo Picasso

Funny Pumpkins
First grade students enjoyed learning color theory through this delightful seasonal project. The first day of the project, I read the story Mouse Paint, in which three adventurous mice inadvertently mix paint to discover new colors. We mixed our primary colored paint (red, yellow, and blue) on paper to make secondary colors (orange, green, and purple.) If you've never seen first graders mix colors, you should! So many delighted discoveries were made that day!
