We talked about complementary colors and how they make each other look better, brighter, and more intense. Students also discovered that when complementary colors mix, they make a neutral brownish gray color. We also discussed analogous colors and how they look great together because they are related. Students got to choose their combination of colors. I gave students a squirt of watered down tempera paint, thick white paper, and a straw and taught them how to create "hairs" by blowing around the edges. The following week, I taught them how to make large cartoon eyes and mouths. They then added one accessory to make their monster unique!
